Suggest Treatment For External Hemorrhoids

Question: Hi
I am 45 years old, female and had haemorrhoids for more than 15 years- external ones mainly. The external one is not painful when I sit down but it hurts if I sit on a bike or wooden chair. In the past year or so I had problems with internal ones- they started bleeding every 2-3 weeks. I have stools 3-5 times a day but sometimes I force myself. I have seen a specialist last year in Romania and he told me that I have stage 2 internal haemorrhoids and he would staple them. The external one would be removed surgically. The external has grown too big to be pushed inside the anus. I live in the UK so I went to see a surgeon with NHS. He told me my internal ones are stage 1. I has a sigmoidoscopy that was fine- only showing haemorrhoids. The UK surgeon booked me for an operation in the next few weeks - he would put rubber band around my internal ones and cut the external ones. I am not very happy with surgically removing the external ones due to side effects and complications that may occur. I looked on internet and saw many other alternatives such as laser, infrared, radiofrequency etc. I am wondering of I should not have a second opinion and not rush into this operation. I would go back in Romania and do it there in a private clinic, if that would be an option, but I am not sure how long I will need to take to be fit to fly back into UK. Please advise. thanks. Brief Answer:
Need to have the lab reports first...
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXXX,
I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.
1. First, I need to have the colonoscopy or anoscopy report to analyze the results myself before going into final conclusions.
2. It is true that are many treatment options for internal/external hemorrhoids, depending on respective stage.
3. To provide a specific treatment in your case, I need to analyze all your lab reports. I want to also know:
- about your bowel movements: loose stool? constipation?
- diet regimen?
- are you physically active?
Looking forward to have the information in!

Hello Ms. Klarida and thank you for your reply.
I will ask my GP to give this information to me but usually is very difficult to get these kind of reports from them - I have faced this in the past. This discussion ends in 2 days and I don't think I can send you reports by then. Can I contact you again afterwards? How do you upload reports?
Many thanks

Brief Answer:
I recommend rubber banding as the best solution..
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome back!
Dear XXXXXXX
First of all you can contact me again, by asking a direct query to me. Secondly you can ask for technical support at our page in order to upload the files to me.
With regards to your recovery time after surgery usually it doesn’t take more than 2-3 days. You will be physically active after the two days if there is no complication.
I am waiting for your medical data, colonoscopy to give the opinion for the treatment of your hemorrhoids.
Yes it is true that there some modalities in surgical treatment of hemorrhoids.
The best strategy to deal with stage II internal hemorrhoids is the Rubber banding procedure which has a rate of more than 92% of success in healing the hemoroids. Circular stapled is associated with a higher long-term risk of recurrence.
So if I were your treating doctor I would choose rubber banding as the best solution to your problem. More over I would suggest to loose weight and to continue with your liquid diet.
Hope this was of help!

Dear Ms. Klerida
I thank you very much for your reply. I feel more relieved. I am not that scared about the procedure of rubber banding for the internal haemorroids but i am worried about the surgery for the external one. I read on internet that you may get incontinence (for both pee and poo) and is also more slow the recovery. I was wondering if for the external one there was a procedure to remove them by laser or infrared etc but not to cut them. I will go to my GP and ask for my reports and send them to you. Do I need to save your replies or they will stay in my inbox after the 3 days have passed?
All the best

Brief Answer:
Infrared is used more for small and medium hemorrhoids
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXX
Infrared coagulation is a good choice but it is preferable for small to medium hemorrhoids not for large hemorrhoids.
You are describing to have a big external hemorrhoid so that’s the reason that your doctor recommends you surgery to remove it.
However after I will see your reports by myself I will give you my last opinion.
Thank you again for your follow up.
