Suggest Treatment For Extreme Anxiety And Obsessive Boring

default
Posted on Thu, 5 Jan 2017
Question: Hello, I am trying to get to the bottom of what is going on with me. So I do suffer from extreme anxiety and obsessive boring. I have LPR as well. My current is I get pressure in between my breast when I stretch I can feel like muscle tenderness and then on my diaphragm. It feels like I can never take a fully deep breath. Where I tend to do more little breast instead. If I'm really busy it's not as terrible. But when I think about it I can get a lot worse. This is been going on and off for a couple months. I did see my doctor and she thought it was the LPR a kind of dismissed me. I saw a holistic doctor and they mentioned my phrenic (sp) nerve causing this issue. They said that I have Epstein-Barr virus that causes the phrenic nerve to inflame which puts pressure on my diaphragm. Since we have now moved and I got a new doctor I'm planning to go again because I am extremly worried i have cancer or something. I would not say I'm out of breath because that's not the case it's more the pressure and the feeling unable to get a deep breath. I haven't had to do the test done recently but a year and three months ago I had a barium swallow study which diagnose that LPR. Into thousand and eight which was an extremely long time ago I had a chest x-ray's Pulmonary test done and the other breathing stuff done.

Please give me so insight of course when you Google it always tells you had cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

I can tell you this definitely isn't cancer! What you are describing is a common somatic symptom of anxiety. This is a common complaint. I strongly recommend you seek treatment for anxiety -- the best would be a combination of an SSRI medication such as escitalopram plus cognitive behavioral psychotherapy.

Detailed Answer:
Yes, anxiety affects hormones in the body such as catecholamines and cortisol which leads to physical symptoms.

The best treatment that avoids medications would be psychotherapy, preferably CBT. There are no effective over the counter medications or supplements.
