Question: I have extreme fatigue and weight gain (30 lbs) I thought it was because of my Thyroidectomy, but I just recently was diagnosed with H Pylori could this be the cause of my fatigue and weight gain? Does this mean after treatment I could lose weight and not feel so tired.

Brief Answer:
h pylori wont cause weight gain and fatigue.check your hemoglobin

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
So as I saw your medication list you are on thyroxine 150 mcg post thyroidectomy.
H pylori is a infection of gastric and upper duodenal mucosa which might result in peptic ulcer disease or gastric reflux like symptoms. But it will not cause weight gain or fatigue.

I feel the weight gain is because of hypothyroidism only.
You need to regularly check your thyroid profile post surgery to see whether the dosage of thyroxine you are taking is adequate or not. If it is not adequate, then you need to titre the dose higher.
Also as h. Pylori treatment is going on, decreased hemoglobin is probable because of gastric mucosa erosion and bleeding is possible.
Hence I would like to advice you as follows-
1. Check your thyroid profile and see whether the doses of thyroxine is adequate or not.
2. Complete your h. Pylori kit course.
3. Check for your hemoglobin to see whether any anemia is there which might be cause behind fatigue.
I hope I have answered your query well.
If you have any questions kindly ask me back.
Thank you
