Question: Hi

Around four months ago i noticed my stool were lighter than usual.

I had a gallbladded/ liver scan and fatty liver and three gallbladder polyps under 5mm were detected.
I have had polyps for over 5 years and the size has not changed.

I also had a blood test that showed mildly raised liver count that dr suggested waa linked to fatty liver and being over weight.
I also had a stool test re the colour of the lighter stool but nothing abnormal was identified.

It has been around 4 months since the test and my stools are still lighter - they are like very light brown but when i wipe what is left on the toilet paper is yellow.

I feel fine... what do you recommend?

Brief Answer:
Obstruction in passage of bile.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Firstly thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query,

Color of stool can be affected by different foods and medications, it is typically brownish due to digestion of bile salts, digestive agents made by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. A reduction or absence of bile salts can cause the stool to become yellow or pale.Only rarely does stool color indicate a potentially serious intestinal condition.A problem with the drainage of your biliary system, which is comprised of your gallbladder, liver, and pancreas is the cause of pale stool in your case. Most likely the gall bladder polyps are offering some obstruction in proper passage of bile.I don't think you need to worry about it.

Suggestion-
As you are asymptomatic i don't feel that there is any need to intervene right now.
A HIDA scan can be done to see if polyps are really obstructing the passage of bile.

Any further queries are welcome!

Thanks.
