- if they come out by themselves they wiggle for awhile longer and I don't know how long they stay alive because either I get rid of them or put sample between tape. they are really hard to pull out most always come out in one piece.

From your description it is likely to be cutaneous larva migrans which is usually due to a worm called Ancylostoma braziliense . A histopathological examination would clinch the diagnosis.
The simplest treatment for it would be Albendazole and your doctor would prescribe the same for you.
