Suggest Treatment For Fever In A Child

Question: My daughter is 6 years old. 6 days ago she had fever around 39 C for 2 days without any other symptoms. Second day in the night it just went away. Now, 4 days after being fine it came again. Again 39,2 without any other symptoms. Should we go to the doctor straight away or wait again.
Brief Answer:
Probably it is a viral fever
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting on HealthCareMagic. Fever is usually indicative of an infection. In most cases, such fevers are of viral origin. Viral infections are usually associated with high rise of temperature and do not respond to antibiotics. They resolve spontaneously in 5-10 days. Unless associated with chills and rigors and other symptoms like bleeding tendencies, I would insist you to wait. You will have to keep the temperature in control by the use of medicines like paracetamol/acetaminophen/tylenol. I would also suggest sponging with water at room temperature in order to bring down the temperature.
Hope that helps. Feel free to revert back in case of further queries if any.
