Suggest Treatment For Fever, Sneezing, Dizziness, Dry Cough, Throat Pain And Chest Soreness

Question: I have a dry cough and burning sensation in my throat and chest. Yesterday, I had sneezing, dripping, runny nose (white to yellow bubbly discharge) and coughing. Now, that has stopped, but the cough and burning throat/chest is worse. Plus, I have low grade fever and some mild dizziness. This is going around our area like wildfire. Most get over it in 24 to 48 hrs, but I have gotten worse perhaps because I am older (65) and in the process of cigarette addiction cesassion. What do I do until my Dr appt Monday?

Hi,

I am sorry for your health problems.

Seems like you are having a bad flu with coughing, sneezing, dripping, runny nose.

Plus, you say to be under smoking cessation process.

So, this explains why your coughing is the worst.

Now, to make you feel like until you see your doctor on Monday, I advise to:
- continue with lots of fluids regimen you are actually following
- take flu meds you find over the counter, choose those containing multiple drugs like paracetamol+ pseudoephedrine+ chlorphenamine. They will treat the symptoms of flu.
- antacids after meal are recommended to regulate the pH of the stomach that is also shown with dry cough
- gargle with warm water and salt, oral lozenges are also recommended for the hygiene of your mouth
- aerosol therapy or XXXXXXX pots can help ease the symptoms. Find some vapu rub ointment at your local drug store. Run your chest and back when you go to bed. Take a couple of tea spoons and pour on boiling water and inhale the steam. That will help too.

When you see your doctor, he/she might recommend other meds to make you feel better.

Hope you will feel better.
