Suggest Treatment For Flatulence And Gas In Infant

Question: My son in 2 months old and suffering from gas and lots of smelly fats giving him bonison but no relief . He fells restless when he is not able to pass his gas. Kindly help me what to do?

Evening colic and air swallowing

Detailed Answer:
Hi....This is called evening colic and is quite common in this age group. This happens when the baby sucks at the breast very fast and in eagerness to drink milk will gulp in air too.

Unless the air comes out like burping or flatus this discomfort will be there and next time check if she is sucking too fast and gulping in air too. You will be more convinced. Usually I don't advice any medicines for this as they give only temporary relief. This will usually get better by itself.

You can try this -
1. Put the baby is prone position and keep patting the back gently till the flatus comes out.
2. XXXXXXX the back of the baby in upright position by putting on the shoulder till the baby burps.

Thanks for answer. I would like to know that my baby is in breastfeeding so should I take any type of special care in my food to avoid this type of gas episode . And what time interval should I followvafter each feed . When should I use colicaid

Hi..
1. No special type of food for you. You can and should take all foods and especially water at least 3-4 liters per day.

2. No specific time interval - its only demand feeding. You should feed the baby, whenever the baby cries for milk.

3. Do not use medicines like Colicaid - they will stop the intestinal movement temporarily and it may proceed to infection (bacterial over growth due to stasis). That is why I told in my previous reply - Usually I don't advice any medicines for this as they give only temporary relief. This will usually get better by itself.

Hi sir,
Thanks I will take care of this . For further query I will follow that link. But sir some times he do fairs but he fells not relaxed. I don't know how to Händel that because he strech his whole body
