Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query at HCM!
I am Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Sheetal Verma answering to your query!
I went through your query and understand your concern.
1. You have not mentioned anything about history of fever? Cough?
2. Yes sometimes viruses like influenza, adenovirus, rhinovirus can present with diarrhoea, lethargy, rhinorrhoea and flu like symptoms. These infections are usually self limiting and hardly persist beyond a week.
3. In your case it like to be common cold than flu. Just need to take rest, plenty of fluids, balanced diet, nasal decongestant and proton pump inhibitors (pantaprazole). If you have a runny nose, postnasal drip, or itchy, watery eyes you can take antihistamine(Cetrizine).
3. If fever is also present then need to take antipyretics and get routine haemogram done.
4. There is no need of going for any special investigations for influenza at present but if symptoms deteriorate you may need to get throat examination, stool routine microscopy and culture, throat microscopy and culture and tests for diagnosis of viral infection by serological or molecular tests.
5. Stop smoking as it can cause various pulmonary disorders like COPD in future.
6. Eat healthy, brisk walk for atleast 30-45 mins a day and contol your weight and stay healthy.
7. Practice hand washing hygiene and take vaccination for influenza.
