Suggest Treatment For Fluctuating BP And Blood Sugar Levels
Hba1c level needed.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome and thank you for asking!
The results of the blood sugar you reported are high, but to give you further suggestions about the treatment is very important to check the glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c). It gives us more information regarding the average of the blood sugars during the last three months.
Rather to raise the doses or to change the treatment it depends on the level of HbA1c. Your age, weight, the presence of other comorbidities would help us also to decide for an optimal treatment.
The blood pressure is high. A patient with diabetes should try to maintain blood pressure levels at 130/80. So i would suggest to give more information regarding (age, weight, how long with Diabetes, do you have other diseases ?) and check the HbA1c level.
It will be a pleasure to help you further after the above results.
Treatment should be modified.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the information.
The glycated hemoglobin is high for your age (it is recommended to keep it under 6.5%).
Glycomin dose is 5 mg (you mentioned 500 mg???) and it may cause low blood sugar during the day.
I would recommend to discuss with your treating physician about raising the dose of the Glycomin to twice daily (if there are no contraindications and you have not low blood sugars with 5 mg) or change the therapy (start metformine if there is abdominal fat and no contraindication for metformine.
Diet and physical activity is very important.
If the blood pressure is 140/100 mm/hg continuously and without treatment, than i would recommend to start an ACE-inhibitor (enalapril) if the renal function is normal.
Wish you good health.

Dr.Mirjeta
