Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I HAD AN EPIDURAL INJECTION APPX 5 WEEKS AGO FOR A SCIATICA PROBLEM. IT DID AFFECT MY BLOOD PRESSURE WHICH I TAKE 5MG ENALAPRIL FOR. ALL THOUGH MY PRESSURE HAS COME DOWN TO APPX 135/80. PRIOR TO THE EPIDURAL I WOULD USUALLY BE AROUND 115/70. I FELT ANY PROBLEMS WOULD BE GONE BY NOW.
Transient fall in blood pressure is quite common with epidural and it will return to normal by itself. You can opt for drugs like gabapentin in place of epidural.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family physician
