Suggest Treatment For Fordyce Spots And Itching On Penis

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Mar 2015
Question: Hi,

I am suffering mentally due to my penis.

I appear to have a combination of fordyce spots, XXXXXXX spots and ppp.

Years ago I went to my gp about the fordyce spots and was told this was normal.

I'm 34 now and I am in increasing distress each time a see a new ‘spot’.

I wondered if I can send pictures and have your opinion on what you see, because I'm getting highly stressed.

Sometimes I get an itch on the glans but just general washing stops it and it goes away quickly. (A day or two)

The main reason for my alarm is that I have noticed yesterday that I have some small red bumps /spots on the glans. I also think I may have 2 or 3 small warts just outside my foreskin.

Hopefully I can send pictures and have your opinion because looking online has just confused me and I'm seriously seriously stressed out, which will no doubt be making this worse.

I cant see a place to upload or attach images.

Brief Answer:
They are typical Fordyce spots you don't have to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,

Thanks for writing back,

I have seen the pictures and they were indeed clear and helpful,

Now i will try to come up with the most helping and comprehensive response i can come up with, still if your mind raises more questions or i miss some point of interest you can ask more questions.

>>What are bumps on fore skin and shaft:

They are quite characteristic Fordyce spots, here i want to mention that Fordyce/Tyson spots, both these spots are exactly the same, they just differ in location/distribution in body.

>>What are itchy areas which appear on glance:

In people having history of allergies it is very common to have some allergic or inflammatory patches on the glans specially if one is fond of tight rough clothes or is sexually active. There is no need to worry about them if they don't get infected , they usually resolve by themselves in a couple of days.

WARTS:

i can't surely tell you if they are warts on a picture, warts are actually visualized better under magnification, but warts themselves are usually very treatable and benign.

>>What are new bumps on glance:

There are two possibilities in them:

1) Fordyce spots:

Most probably they are fordyce spots, mostly on glance appearance of Fordyce is a bit difference in a sense that , they are more red in start then they get paler, whitish.

2) Allergy/Inflammation:

This seems to be kind of a remote possibility because it usually itches when allergic but still mentioned it because in a small group of people they can be painless.

CAN IT BE STD?

No they are no way like the spots of any STD or infection. Plus there are no symptoms.

>>Prognosis of these spots:

They are completely BENIGN they are not dangerous but yes when they are on external parts of body of genitals they cause cosmetic concerns. No other bad outcome is expected from them.

TREATMENT OPTIONS:

1) Leave THEM ALONE:

This is the most preferred treatment option recommended by doctors all over the world, because most of medical research and literature declare them physiological and safe.

2) IF INFECTED:

Clindamicin cream is used.

3) LASER THERAPY:

Laser therapy has shown variable results in different patients ...results depend upon patients response, type of LASER used, [place of presence of these spots. This option can be discussed with your dermatologist.(C02 LASER is most talked about in this regard).

4) Surgical removal:

Surgical removal results of XXXXXXX spots really shows good results, this is because they are present of foreskin and when a male is done simple circumcision they are removed with the removed skin and patient gets rid of it, circumcision also hold 100s of other health benefits including lowered rate of cancers , STDS and contact diseases.

SUGGESTIONS:

1) Don't panic, be sure that there spots and bumps are benign and not dangerous or contagious.

2) Educate your partner about them too it will make your life easy.

3) Talk to your dermatologist about LASER and surgical options( if you are really in a mood to get rid of them as much as you can).

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

I feel a wave of relief coming over me.

can you tell me if they are infectious to my girlfriend. we have not yet had intercourse, and I plan on wearing a condom, but I fear that I could pass them to her if our skin touches.
also, is there any danger of passing anything on orally, if such an act was to take place?

also, I have been fearing that the “wart style spots could be hpv , of which I know that there is no test for men.

based upon your knowledge, how sure are you that everything you see is benign and not contagious. I know you cant be 100 percent sure of anything, I just want an indication of your confidence.

I have strong feelings for her and fear causing her any harm. ”

I feel so much relief that you have almost brought a grown man to tears.

I'm sorry for seeming paranoid but this has been causing me so much panic and distress and feelings of dirtyness and self hate.

and finally, thank you from the bottom of my heart for providing this service. if nothing else, you have really made a difference to me personally, if not all your patients.

Brief Answer:
Stay calm, every thing looks just fine :)

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back,

I am happy that i could make you feel relieved,

I understand and appreciate how much care you have for your partner, that you are so much concerned about her safety.

Wart actually is NOT a spot it's a roughened area , which rises above skin, upper layer of skin actually SPROUTS out of the skin level, you can type "warts" instead of "genital warts" in google images to see how they look like.

Is there any danger of oral transmission : NO... there is no danger... neither HPV is dangerous not are the Fordyce spots... Fordyce spots are just swollen glands nothing else ... every body has those glands but they swell up in few no worries.

You can say I am 95% sure that every thing i see is benign, and shouldn't cause issues in your sex life and else. Indeed if i could examine you in person and had diagnostic tools i could have covered up much of the remaining 5% as well.

HPV infection to your partner:

Well there are 100 types of HPV and only 3-4 cause cancer in the end ... one thing is that your are not sure you have warts, then you don't know if these warts are HPV ,,,and even if they are HPV you ain't sure if they are dangerous type.

One thing positive here is that HPV which causes warts is usually safer type.

Using barrier methods like condom make transmission more less likely even in proved HPV infected patients.

Then body has it's own power to remove HPV from it's system within two years.

Can warts be treated yes they can be treated with meds and freezing methods..quite easily. Provided they are actually warts. Google will give so many forms that it will only make you confuse only a professional can differentiate... like there is fever in malaria, pneumonia, typhoid, abcess, flu, and many other diseases but only a doctor guesses which fever is what, same way i would suggest you not to read on net about it so much, only read for your education not to make diagnosis.

SUGGESTIONS:

1) See a good dermatologist without feeling any embarrassment and discuss causes methods of treatment and prognosis and all the concerns you might be having.

EDUCATE AND DISCUSS WITH YOUR PARTNER:

I don't know about your comfort level but it would be great if you guys can sit together in a good environment and discuss these things and tell her that what these spots are and doctors have declared them benign and normal. Finding the right time is upon you, you can use barrier method and discuss with her afterwards, you know better about your relation and the way you might want to discuss but a good understanding about the issue will always be helping doubts don't let partners get and give 1005 plus don't mention HPV to her until a dermatologist suspects HPV after checking you and examining you in person, try not to create doubts it will make you go easy :). And if you guys have enough understanding there shouldn't be any problems in future , emotional or medical.
