Suggest Treatment For Fracture Of The Distal Radius
Indicates ligament injury but the fracture will heal on its own
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Thanks for the query.
In the wrist, there are two bones which end from the forearm called Radius and Ulna bones. The End of the radius bone has been fractured which is why plating was done.
The bone by the side of it is the Ulna which has a small protrude race called styloid process. Sometimes during distal radius Fractures, the ulnar styloid process can fracture. This can indicate potential ligament injury in the wrist such can cause some instability later.
Now your radius fracture has been fixed, so there will be time to heal the ligament also. Not to worry. There is no need to fix an ulnar styloid fracture in most cases. This fracture will heal spontaneous in most cases.
Follow your Surgeon's orders and the rehabilitation protocol. Avoid lifting weights until instructed by your Doctor.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
