Suggest Treatment For Fractured Hyoid Bone
Question: I've a rare problem. I've a fractured hyoid bone due to an accident getting hit in the throat 27 years ago. I'm under the care of a Dr. at NYU who has only been able to help doing nerve blocks. Botox did not help. Also, tried Topomax, was allergic, and thought I was going to die from the drug.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm in terrible pain.

Brief Answer:
Nerve block is the best
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
There is no modality or medication better responsive than nerve block.
Other promising procedures though not as effective as nerve block can be Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), Pulsed radiofrequency, neuromodulation, nerve ablation etc.
I would recommend to continue with nerve block and also consult a psychiatrist for Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which can be helpful.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
