Brief Answer:
Iron tablets should not cause you any weight gain

Detailed Answer:
Hello, No wonder you are confused. One does not recommend iron pills for freckles on your face. Did he do any blood tests like Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, serum ferritin, MCV, MCH,RDW, B12, folic acid? Furthermore, iron has not been known to cause any weight gain so that has me baffled. If you were in my clinic, I would recommend not only the tests above before treatment but also I would want to know the status of the Thyroid with a TSH and, preferably, an entire thryoid panel. I would also request that you keep a food diary for analyis for dietary adequacy. Then, call your doctor and tell him what you told me and ask if those tests were in your chart and if so you need a copy of them. If not, could they be done? Then, find a certified or licensed Dietitian to review your food diary, your lab tests, do a complete assessment and together come up with a treatment plan that will work. Come back again!
