Suggest Treatment For Frequent Cold And Cough In Infants

Question: Hello,

I am writing about my 7.5 month old baby. She is currently in the teething phase. Just before she got her first tooth, she suffered from a bad cold and cough for 7-8 days. We gave her:

1. Sumbucus 30
2. Hepar Sulph

From last evening, she suddenly has a bad cold again. She has congested nose, difficulty feeding and slight cough. She seems to be teething again as she is very irritable, wants to be carried all the time, rubbing her face and nose and ears.

Is there any medicine in Homeopathy which we can give her to ease her cold and help with the teething phase?

We need some medicine which will be very effective as she cannot feed with this cold.

Small baby's are very prone to catch cough and cold. and they are need special measure to protect from cold. Homeopathy has no any side effect and they are safe to use

I am suggesting some medicine for blockage and all associated complain. This will give her prompt relief and also help her to stop recurrent cough, coryza and teething related trouble.

You can start with
1 Agraphis Nutens 30 4 pills thrice in day (Nose Blockage)
2 Dulcamara 30 4 pills twice in day
3 Antim tart 30 4 pills twice in day
4 Bio combination no 21 2 pills twice in day (for 1 month)

Medicine can be given directly on tongue or by dissolving in spoon of water without touching.

Take medicine for 7 to 15 days depending upon the relief (but not less than 7 days) except biochem 21.

You can stop your earlier medicine i.e. sambucus and Hepar

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for your prescription.
Just wanted inform you know that I am finding it difficult to dilute the tab/globules in water or milk and hence I have purchased the liquid version of all the below medicines
1) Agraphis nutens 30
2) Dulcamara 30
3) Antim tart 30
Can you please let me know how many drops I need to give for 1 dose and how many doses in a day?
As of now I am giving 2 drops to her for each of this medicines.
One more question
Any idea how long will it take for Agraphis nutens 30 to cure this cough & cold and blocked nose. Actually the main problem I am facing is I am not able to extract the mucus out of her nose. Moreover my baby is unable to sleep or take feeding due to blockage of her nose. So a quick remedy will be really helpful.

There is no problem in giving her liquid medicine. You can give her 2 drops of each medicine mixing with 1 spoon of water(separately). Do not give directly on tongue it may irritate her. Frequency of dose remain same as prescribed in last mail

Agraphis nutens is quick acting medicine (acute medicine) and start its action after 2-3 dose. But understand medicine will not help you to dry the discharge, it will remove all discharge material from the lungs so you may observe increase discharge though in such case baby feel better because that is medicine induced discharge and controlled by the medicine.
If we allow the medicine to suppress the discharge it will lead to dryness of mucous followed by dry cough (khasi).
Once mucous is out of body she will have proper relief.

Hello,

I have been giving my baby the following medicines as prescribed by you. However, she is not feeling any relief at all.

You medicines have really worked very well for me in the past. But this time, it is not causing any relief at all. She is still feeling miserable.

Her nose is either blocked or running. But it is not possible for us to extract the mucus from her nose as she is too small and not allowing us to do that.

Sumbucus has worked for her in the past. Should I start giving her that? Or do you suggest taking her to allopathy?

Also, I am putting slight mustard oil in her nose. Is it harmful?

Please suggest.

I am changing medicine
Stops Agraphis Nutens
Start Ammonium Carb 6, 3 drop mix with one spoon of water orally. (if ammonium carb 6 is not available then ammonium carb 30)

take the medicine twice in day
He will be alright

You can continue sambucus 30 along with the medicine
rest of the medicine are as it is prescribed earlier
I suggest you to wait for some time and use homeopathy medicine only or if you think to take allopathy medicine you are free to choose mode of medication.
