Suggest Treatment For Frequent Urination
Question: I have been having issues with frequent urination lately. Was tested for diabetes and told my psa came back normal. Doc said it might be from BP. Well tonite I have pretty bad gas (flatulence) from some chili I ate, and I have been having some dull pain in my upper left side of chest under ribcage. I know this isn't 'chest pain', my heart is very healthy, but am concerned it might be my spleen?? Is there an easy way to tell? Is it too much coincidence that I have bad gas at same time to worry about things like the spleen? I feel it when I move quickly or breath heavily. I have had gas many times before and have some history of gastric issues. Just dont know when I should be thinking emergency room.
my current bp is about 125/84
I should note I have had mostly acid issues in the past...this doesn't feel like acid, but probably gas??

Brief Answer:
take pantoprazole or omeprazole
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Your symptoms are unlikely to be because of the spleen. The symptoms are due to dyspepsia and most likely related to gastritis which can present with abdominal tightness or bloat ( gas) or pain. I would suggest oral omeprazole or pantoprazole which would help you with your symptoms
Regarding your urinary symptoms I would suggest a ultrasound to check for the prostate as PSA is not a very reliable test.
Hope this helps

I got my results and my psa is .6 Everything else came back normal except:
GFR was 76 a month ago and now it is 59.
Albium was 5 a month ago and now its 5.1. and my anion gap is 24.
I wasn't told anything was serious from my family doctor, but when I read about this on the internet it suggests im in some type of chronic kindey disease! Do these numbers fluctuate that much? I have an appointment with a urologist tomorrow but I don't know how concerned I should be. I have felt some discomfort in my back (mostly lower but some mid back) I also read that hepatitis can cause these things. I had a questionable sexual encounter a little over a month ago, but tested negative for all STD's at 30 days.

Brief Answer:
need to look for renal disease
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
What were your urea and creatinine results. Did you get an ultrasound. if not I would suggest you get one to check for status of kidneys. I would also advise a urine routine examination.
With these values we need to investigate for the functioning status of the kidneys and look for renal disease. And also liver enzymes.
There is nothing to suggest a STD in your description or hepatitis.
Hope this helps

my creatine was 1.43. creatine ratio: 14.7 urea 21 ....not sure what else you would want to see, what numbers can I show you for the liver?
What can cause this?
I have been told my liver functions are all normal. Can I ask, if this were hepatitis....would it have to mess up the liver before it could mess up the kidneys? Is it even possible to have hepitits causing this problem if I had a negative test 30 days after possible exposure?

Brief Answer:
hepatitis is not causing the problem
Detailed Answer:
Hello, in case you liver function tests are normal and hepatitis B and C tests are also negative (they are apart of standard STD panel) then you do not have hepatitis. Your problems are not related to the liver. Raised creatinine could be a consequence of hypertension in which case your blood pressure should be maintined in the normal range
Hope this helps.

Doctor thought I might have kidney stone, but xray says I don't. Xray shows Im constipated and he ordered me to take miralax. (which says I shouldn't take with kidney disease???)
I guess im concerned because if I don't have a stone, then how come my gfr level dropped so much so quickly? Doctor 'thinks' I HAD a stone but must have passed it, but I never had blood and only briefly felt pain during urination once about a week and a half ago and there was no blood then either. So that would mean I passed a stone, then 4 days later took a blood test where my gfr was 59, and now im just constipated. Does this theory make sense? Is it ok to take miralax if my GFR so low? He also gave me rapaflo.

Brief Answer:
could have been a stone. can take miralax
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is possible that you had a stone which passed off while passing urine. Stones can be as small as one mm and you might have missed it and the pain you felt while passing urine could have been the stone.
Miralax can be taken safely. Just ensure that you maintain adequate hydration and drink plenty of fluids .
Repeat creatinine and urea after a month.

If I passed a small stone and never felt it, could that also be the reason that my gfr dropped almost 20 points in one month?

yes
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yes, it is a possibility.
