Suggest Treatment For Gallstones
Question: 65 y/o female, in good health with gradual, severe onset of pain, originally back and front, supradiaphramatictic. Onset 25 july 17, with no comfortable body position. My husband is a retired paramedic, and diagnosed either muscular strain or gall bladder problems. Especially the latter, since my pain has settled under my right shoulder blade. My DO ordered a kidney ultrasound, which came back negative. I am now scheduled for a Gall Bladder ultrasound Monday am. DO prescribe Oxycodone and XXXXXXX which offer temporary relief. We just returned from NC, where we did a lot of strenuous(for us) activities, including Golf almost daily, moderate hiking, and river rafting. What are the chances this is a Gallstone of just an inflamed gall bladder....or muscular?
Brief Answer:
Gallstones possible
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
If there is no change in pain during movements or exercise then this is more likely to be intraabdominal cause such as gallbladder stone, inflammation or pancreatitis. Especially if this is associated with nausea, bloating or diarrhoea.
It would be good to have easier diet, antispasmodics, avoid fatty and spicy food and do an abdominal CT scan (instead of the repeated USG's) to look into it further..
Wish you a good health. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
