Brief Answer:
Genital Vitiligo treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

I understand from your query that you would like to know the treatment options for genital vitiligo.

I see that you have already tried various topical preparations.

Before starting a patient of vitiligo on any form of treatment, we generally assess the stability of the disease, extent of body involvement and associated factors like positive family history, thyroid disorders and presence of other autoimmune disorders.

If you have vitiligo confined only to the foreskin and is not spreading, I would generally advise you to apply a mid potent steroid like Mometasone furoate in the morning and a non-steroidal immunomodulator like 0.1% Tacrolimus at bed time.
The steroid will have to be stooped in 4- 6 weeks while Tacrolimus should be continued till a good response is seen.

You will also benefit by taking an antioxidant containing beta carotene 30 mg, zinc sulphate, copper, selenium and manganese.

The other options include topicals like Fibroblast growth factor gel, topical preparations of anti-oxidants like Vitix gel and spot phototherapy ( Narrow band UV-B).

Genital vitiligo is generally slow to respond and you need to be compliant with treatment and follow up regularly with your dermatologist.

Hope this information helps you.

If you have any more queries, I will be glad to assist.

Regards,
Dr. Johny Chacko

Hi Dr XXXXXXX

But my doctor suggest me

1:Triomfort(morning)
2:UV light (before sleeping for 3 to 6 minutes daily)
3:Tacroz ointment( after using uv light)
4: Zincovit(night & morning)

Its not spreading. My doctor said its stable if you use the above medicines, you can find the improvement (may be cured fully) in 6months.

My family dont have Thyroid & any kind of disorders.
I got this 2year back.I approached a doctor he gave some medication with which it got stable but i did not find any improvement so i approached another doctor.

Please suggest me proper medication with which i can get cured.

Hello,

Greetings.

Could you give me few more details?

How are you showing UV light in the night? Do you have a hand held device?

Also, could you tell me the contents of " Triomfort". You seemed to have misspelt it as I am not getting it on google search.

PLease revert back.

Regards,
Dr. Johny Chacko

My Dr. asked me to use the tablet 10minutes before using UV Light after using UV light he asked me to apply tacroz.

Brief Answer:
Genital vilitigo

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for the clarification.

I feel that you are on the right line of treatment.

It could take 6 months for the repigmentation to start.

Unfortunately, it is difficult for any dermatologist to predict accurately when the colour will come back. It differs from patient to patient.

In general, if you do not have a positive family history, no associated auto- immune disorders and the disease is stable and not spreading ( as in your case), it carries a good prognosis. The colour could start coming back in 6 months time.

Do not take too much mental stress as stress can release free radicals which could worsen the disease.

Be compliant with the treatment. Trust your doctor and discuss the options openly. Many a times, patients jump from one doctor to another and they do not give proper time for treatment. And a new doctor will again change the medicines as the patient will not want to use the same treatment which the previous doctor had given! So, this way, the medicines are not getting roper time to show their action at all.

Let us hope for the best.

Wishing you good health,
Dr. Johny Chacko
