Hi,
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Your concern about
hidradenitis suppurativa being autoimmune is not true. It is said to be associated with some
autoimmune disease like
inflammatory bowel disease and so on.
Hence this may be related to your bowel problems since your childhood.
I would advise you the following for your bowel uissue.
Consult a Gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation and undergo investigations as suggested by him.
These can be tests of blood, specialized tests,
colonoscopy and biopsy.
CT scan of abdomen.
All these help to know the cause for your bowel problems so that an appropriate treatment can help you and may help to get a cure.
As for hidradenitis suppurativa the following management can help you:
Clean the area with plain water as many times as possible.
Keep it dry.
Use loose clothes so that there will be aeration.
Apply Liquid Betadine at least once a day to avoid secondary infection.
If the medical management does not help then surgical excision helps.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
