Question: I just got diognesed with gonoreah and chlamydia
I am not showing any signs . My last test i took was 3 months ago and i passed it .

Myquestion is how long can i live with these
Illnesses and will they do harm in a long run . You see, Im married and i cant really tell my wife
Who probably got it as well from me.

My plan is that maybe she'll get a cold or something
And see the doctor , doctor will give her antibiotics
And at the same time i will take the meds as well ,
Abstain from sex for that period of time and
Final resault would be that we are noth cured .

Brief Answer:
Gonorrhea, Chlamydia should be treated promptly; If untreated, Infertility and PID are serious complications
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have understood it.

Gonorrhea and chlamydia can be silent in both males and females. They are an STD.
However males will usually have symptoms like urethral discharge, burning on passing urine etc. Asymptomatic infection is more common in females.
Ignoring these infections can lead to complications like spread of infection to testes i.e epididymo-orchitis, prostrate, infertility etc in males. In females, gonorrhea and chlamydial infection can ascend up the genital tract and cause serious complications like Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, tubo-ovarian abscess and infertility.
Therefore, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia should be treated promptly. They are very much curable and If treated promptly there are absolutely no complications.

For uncomplicated gonnorhea and chlamydial infection, treatment of choice is single dose of cefixime 400 mg and single dose of Azithromycin 1 gm as recommended by cdc.
Both sexual partners are treated simultaneously. Abstain from sex for at least a week after treatment.
You may take a retest after 2 weeks of treatment to ensure adequacy of treatment.
