Question: I take lovastatin and now the rheumatologists says that I have gout. I have been in terrible debilitating pain, I don't eat much fish and very little meat. what else can I do to eliminate the pain of gout?

The main drug in managing gout is allopurinol which decreases the amount of uric acid produced in the body. This develop reduces uric acid buildup and symptoms of gout.
The best drug for immediate gout pain relief is indomethacin. It is taken at doses of 50mg 3times daily for acute pains. I will suggest that you ask your doctor about this if he has never considered using this.
In addition to drugs, avoid excess consumption of red meats this is a major contributor to uric acid production. If you have a script of your results that were used to diagnose gout, I will like to review them and offer a second and independent opinion.
