Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome again to the forum and thanks for sending important details.

After getting all the informations I first of all reassure you that your daughter has got nothing serious and the part of hair fall is normal natural process. To tell you simply let me explain you some medical facts regarding the hair fall.

Hair grow in a cyclical phase and the complete cycle of growth to falling is divided into three parts:

1. Growing phase (Anagen): more than 85 -90 % of hair are in this phase and remain for multiple of months to years. That is why we see the long strands of growth of hair.

2. Senescence phase (Catagen): around less than 10 % of hair are in this phase and is the phase before falling. The root starts detaching from the shaft and therefore is beginning of falling.

3. Falling phase (Telogen ): A very few percentage of hair where the root is completely detached and is pushed outside and therefore we see actual falling of hairs.

We have almost 1 lac hair on our scalp and amongst them few percent of hair are in falling phase and then another 0.1% (around 50-100) of hair can fall everyday. Though in all of us excess falling of more than 100 hair can be because of conditions such as poor nutrition or any stressful event or even due to simple stress also. But in young kids due to growing age and more requirement of nutrients and minerals we can observe hair fall above normal limits.

So you should not be worried about the simple hair fall problem. It may continue till 3-4 months and then gets better by itself. As your daughter is quite young therefore I do not prefer to give any medication but suggest you simple dietary measures.

For the betterment of diet kindly follow the suggestions below:

1. Give her at least 3-4 different fruits saplings per day. Every fruit is good but you can make a combination of sour with sweet fruits such as oranges, papaya and other of seasonal fruits.

2. Pulses are good source of proteins. So everyday have a small bowel full of mixed pulses. Add green leafy vegetables additionally in the pulses which contain lot of iron and vitamins in it.

3. Sprouts are the best source of fibers, minerals especially iron, vitamins and proteins too. So add it at-least alternate day if you can not make in every-day's part of meal.

4. Over night soaked and peeled almonds will give you good vitamin E which is good for the hair growth.

5. Milk and milk products should be included in every-day's schedule.

If you are already doing all these measure for more than 3 months then in my patients of your daughter’s age group prefer to give a tablet containing biotin 5 mg per day for 4 weeks and add an Iron syrup after meals.
I again reassure you that the hair fall is simple natural process and you can manage it with simple modifications in diet.

You can continue oil & shikakai or other application and that will help in preventing the hair fall.

I hope these informations will help you. I will be glad to help if you have any further queries or if not then can close the discussion and rate the answer.

"Wish you good health"

Brief Answer:
Almost normal expcet higher falling (telogen) hair

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to the forum again and thanks for further follow up.

I can see that you have gone for trichoscan of your daughter. Though the hair analysis can be done by simple magnifier too but for academic and follow up purpose trichoscan is helping tool to note down the various indices related to hair.

After analyzing the results and comparing it with normal values let me first reassure you that all the indices are almost normal except for the Anagen and telogen hair. As I guided you in my previous mail that Anagen hair are around 85% and sometime upto 70 % of hair can be considered normal. In your daughter these are around 60 % (58.3%) that is why there is increase in falling hair (coming to around 40%).

Rest of all the values are normal and there is no issues regarding the same. I quite often see the kind of results as your daughter's trichogram has shown. In most of the patients it can be managed by the simple measures which I have already enumerated.

Do it for next 8 weeks of period along with biotin tablet and iron syrup and then after 8 weeks can go for review trichoscan to compare the reulsts. I am quite sure that you will observe decrease in falling of hair after about 8 weeks. Sometimes in cases of higher telogen hair ( falling hair) the condition may continue for 3-5 months but it is not at all a thing of worry. It is because of the fact that each telogen hair is actually pushed by a new anagen (growing) hair. SO what we can see are the falling hair but not the actual of new hair growing under the skin.

"My all best wishes for the little princess"
