Posted on Thu, 13 Aug 2015
Question: There is a lump in my shoulder that is hard and painless about the size of a quarter as best as I can put it. The lump doesn't hurt but my arm does the pain ranges from sharp and burning to dull and aching and it is hard to use my arm but it is bearable. Went to an urgent care where they prescribed me prednisone which did not make the lump go away as they stated it would.

Brief Answer:
Needs work up Liek MRI to sort out.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Painful lump in shoulder not responding to prednisone and reducing the range mobility needs further evaluation like MRI, radiographs and a complete physical examination.

I would like you to get evaluated let them sort it out and then manage accordingly. It could be a sprained ligament or a bruised rotator cuff. Only complete clinical correlation will make things clear.

Till then continue the prednisone and try to maintain the range of mobility exercises. At the age as young as 21 i don't see anything worrisome to be freaked about. Lets hope for the best and keep our fingers crossed. Let the etiology of this painful lump be cleared and then management will be click of a finger.

Till then you can use home remedies like warm compresses, massage with topical NSAIDs or olive oil, sleeping or lying down on a soft bedding sparing the shoulder affected in opposite posture.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
