Suggest Treatment For Headache After A Fall
Question: I am 54 years old and fell this past weekend. I hit the back of my head on the ground pretty hard....in like a whip-lash motion. I'm fairly certain over the last few days I have experience minor concussion symptoms so I've rested a lot. . In the last 12 hours however I have developed a headache in the top/front part of my head and a knot has developed in that area. I've avoided aspirin and only taken Tylenol. Should I be more concerned and go to the hospital for a CT or just continue to rest and hope it goes away?
Brief Answer:
Get MRI
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I think that instead of worrying, it is always better to go to the hospital and get an MRI brain done.
In fact neuroradioimaging is definitely needed for anyone who has been having concussions, even if minor, after a trauma to the head.
Its almost a rule.
So yes, I consider you should go to the hospital. And get the MRI/CT. I prefer the MRI cause it gives more details about the brain than a Ct scan.
Its also a good decision to stay away from the Aspirin
Best of luck

Any thoughts on the connection between hitting the back if my head and 4 days later having a knot on the top/front part of my head with a headache? Is that coincidence or are the 2 connected somehow?
Brief Answer:
could be a collection
Detailed Answer:
see the point is that whip lash injury affects the internal parts
the knot is probably a collection of blood that has got collected there.
ideally i need to examine the part before commenting on the knot
but an mri should be able to tell us
best of luck
