Question: I think I might have a spinal leak had a c-section 11days ago and have horrendous headaches for last week where skull joins onto neck, server beak pain and shoulder pain and sore eyes sometimes slightly blurred vision of standing or sitting too long. Better when I'm laying flat. I think it's too late for a blood spot now is it? Can I have a massarge to relieve pain. I am breast feeding.

Brief Answer:
post spinal headache

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
POST SPINAL headaches are usually seen till 4-5 days after c-section and hence increased water intake is advised to tide over this most common side effect of anaesthesia. You need to keep yourself well hydrated with 5-6 litres of water daily as dehydration can further increase your headaches and neck aches.
If in next 12 hrs after increasing your water intake , the pain doesn't subside or reduces then you may still consider a blood patch after a local examination by the anaesthesist concerned. A compression bandage at the site of spinal needle puncture shall also help prevent any csf loss , which if at all present.
Neck massage and head massage can give symptomatic relief to an extent but not always. Best treatment remains fluid replenishment and coffee.
