Suggest Treatment For Heart Arrythmia
Question: Hello-
This could be a silly question but I'm actually quite worried. Abouy an hour or two ago I made a turn from one big yea to another and there was a car coming toward me in my XXXXXXX Needless to say it scared me. It felt as though my heart physically expanded and hit the front chest wall. After that my chest felt cold. I am still very tense. I am wondering if this could cause heart attack or bruising of the heart? Could it cause fatal arrythmia? Could it kill me. Should I go to the ER? I I is it may sound silly but I am really quite frightened by this. I have never experienced this feeling before.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Relax / Go to ER & get reassured
Detailed Answer:
Hi friend
Welcome to Health Care Magic
There is nothing silly in this - it is an appropriate reaction to stress
There is nothing to suggest a heart attack or bruise
It appears to be a panic reaction – from situational Anxiety
The heart beats forcible or faster at the time of fear or stress
It is better to get examined than go on guessing and worrying… rather to rule out than to rule in
The wise option is to go to ER / get yourself examined and have an EKG (may be blood tests too) done…
That will exclude any heart problem and reassure – which of course will relieve the symptom too
Good luck
God bless you

So does that mean that my heart could have actually been damaged?
Brief Answer:
Damage most unlikely
Detailed Answer:
Hi
The probability of damage is really remote / practically out of question
If the heart was damaged, the symptoms would be different (not as you have described), serious and progressive...
Seeing a heart doctor does NOT mean, one has heart disease / seeing a Psychiatrist does not mean mental problem / Examination is aimed at for confirmation of normality and reassurance
Regards

I went to the ER and they did EKG which was unchanged from previous. He said blood work was not necessary. Does this mean I'm ok?
Brief Answer:
YES - for sure
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Yes - you are OK
'Double OK", when the examining doctor does not want blood test - because he is convinced beyond any doubt
A normal EKG is extremely reassuring
Forget the incident and enjoy life
