Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM
I am sorry to hear that you are having hemiplegic migraines and that you are having them right now. In my procatice I see pateints with migraines and know that they can be very difficult to control. I notice in your list of medication that you are taking lamictal which is being used for bipolar but is alos helpful in treatment migraines. Lamictal is good for reducing the frequency of the migraine but not for the acute migraine.
For the acute migraine that is happening right now I have usually prescribed a triptan like Imitrex. This comes in different formulations including an injectable, nasal spray and a pill. I instruct my patient to take this medication at the very onset of the headache before it gets severe. Once the migraine is severe there is very little that can abort the headache. As you have already done getting into a dark room reducing light and any stimulus will help. If the headache still is bothersome you may need to be seen by a medical professional. Other injectable medication may help abort you headache and nausea.
Hope this answers your question. Please contact us again with your concerns.
Your welcome
