Suggest Treatment For High A1c And Glucose Levels While Treating GERD
there is no documented hyperglycemia with either of them
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I've read your story carefully but I have to admit that this is the first time I've ever read that acid lowering drugs may cause hyperglycemia. Actually there are studies that suggest the exact opposite! Check out this link for example: http://www.YYYY.gov/pmc/articles/0000/
Anyway, I cannot absolutely exclude the possibility that your body works differently with these drugs because every individual is unique, but there is no documented negative effect on blood glucose control with any of the drugs that you've mentioned. Thus I can't do anything more than recommend reviewing your diet, physical activity and the rest of your drugs with your doctor. Perhaps your doctor can identify other potential causes for the worsening of your blood glucose control. Any PPI can be used.
Since the chances that an undocumented side effect occurred for such popular and heavily used for long time drugs are extremely low, I would suggest avoiding to "invent the wheel" all over again. The point is that in order to prove that an undocumented side effect has occurred, you've got to exclude other potential causes first.
I hope you find my comments helpful!
