Suggest Treatment For High BP
Question: I have high blood pressure and I would like to know if there is a medication that would bring it back to normal within 2 - 3 days. I am very anxious about taking the blood pressure test for a DOT Physical for a job.
Is there a medication that I can ask my doctor about the help with this problem?

Brief Answer:
There is medication you can take.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. For high blood pressure initially you can try lowering your dietary salt intake and to sleep enough time for 8 hours. Serum cholesterol should be checked also. A high cholesterol level also gives a high blood pressure. If it is first time you are getting blood pressure then better to go for a urea and creatinine test to rule out a secondary cause of BP from kidney problem.
If still your BP is high it should be lowered by antihypertensive medication. Choice of medication will be decided by your doctor after physical examination.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

I'm taking 3 meds carvedilol 25mg twice a day also benzerpril 20 mg twice a day and amplodipine 10 mg a day is there a temporary quick fix meds that would fix this problem.
Brief Answer:
Temporary medicines are not standard care.
Detailed Answer:
Hi and Welcome.
Thank you for your follow up query.
There is no such temporary medicine. The medications you are taking are aimed at hypertension and its complications. Carvidilol helps in lowering BP as well as prevent threatening arrhythmias. Benzepril lowers BP as well as protecting heart and kidney from remodeling. Amlodipine also lowers BP and protect kidney. So stopping this may be risky.
You can be put on combination of long acting Angiotensin receptor blocker and diuretic instead of this which can be taken one time daily. It should be decided by your treating doctor. Other than that there is no temporary remedy.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
