Suggest Treatment For High Blood Glucose Levels
Question: Hello... My husband's morning reading today was 326. He has been in the very high 200's and low 300's since he started tracking again a few weeks ago. He is not on medication and is uninsured so does not want to go to the doctor. He keeps saying he will take care of it and this morning he offered to do better at it. Should I be concerned? Is he in immediate danger? What are the long term effects of high readings for such an extended period of time?

His diabetes needs to be treated with a diet plan customised by a dietician, exercise and medications. All these entities are complementary to each other. He needs to do a baseline evaluation of his health which includes a hba1c, fasting lipid profile, serum creatinine, urine routine, ECG and eye test. The complications of diabetes are often silent and can be seen even in those who are newly diagnosed. High sugars can affect the heart, kidney, eyes, nerves and blood vessels and may even cause sexual dysfunction and liver disease. Even cancer is seen more commonly in diabetics.
