I AM 47 YEARS OLD. I HAVE HAD SEXUAL PROBLEMS FROM THE TIME I WAS A TEENAGER. I HAVE NEVER REALLY KNOWN WHAT A SEX DRIVE FEELS LIKE. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS GETTING ERECTIONS. SOME HOW I HAVE MADE IT TO 47 WITH TWO GREAT SONS. BUT NOW MY PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE. PHYSICAL STIMULATION HAS ALWAYS BEEN WHAT IT TOOK FOR ME TO GET AN ERECTION. NOW THSI DOES NOT EVEN WORK. I HAVE TRIED VIAGRA AND ALL THE OTHER MEDS THEY HAVE. I STILL HAVE NO SEX DRIVE. I AM NOW GETTING CHARLIE HORSES IN THE BACK OF BOTH LEGS WHEN I TRY TO GET AN ERECTION. I STILL ONLY COME UP HALF WAY AND WHEN I DO HAVE AN ORGASM THE CHARLIE HORSES GET VERY INTENSE. I HAVE YET TO FIND A DOCTOR THAT CAN HELP ME. PLEASE HELP !

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

First thing is to find out the cause- please check blood glucose, lipid profile and testosterone. We advise check up by doctor because there may be some problem in your genitals which may cause such problems. Next is lifestyle changes- reduce weight, cut down alcohol and stop smoking.

At the age of 47 years, erectile dysfunction may be a risk factor for heart disease, therefore you should maintain healthy lifestyle. Do not take any over the counter medicines. take medicines only when advised by doctor after physical examination. You can try Kegel exercise.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sujoy Dasgupta, OB & GYN Specialist
