Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I carefully reviewed all your mother tests and would explain that all her performed tests are within the normal ranges except for vitamin D levels which have resulted too low and are indicative of vitamin D deficiency.

What is your mothers weight? Is she obese?

Vitamin D deficiency is not directly related to high blood pressure, but chronic low levels of vitamin D have been related to a higher risk for hypertension.

I would recommend performing other tests to investigate for the possible cause of high blood pressure:

- a resting ECG
- a cardiac ultrasound to examine her cardiac function and structure
- blood electrolytes ( potassium, sodium, calcium, chloride)
- uric acid levels
- thyroid hormone levels for possible thyroid dysfunction, which could lead to uncontrolled high blood pressure

I would also like to know her actual blood pressure and heart rate values? Antihypertensive therapy may be needed.

Meanwhile, I would recommend discussing with her doctor on the above issues and on the possibility of starting Vitamin D supplements.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
