Suggest Treatment For High Blood Pressure And Slipped Disc
Metoprolol is used if Grave's is diagnosed
Detailed Answer:
Hello madam.Thanks for your query.
I have thoroughly read your query and completely understand your concerns.
I agree with you that the metorpolol should be avoided in individual who might develop thyroid disorders(thyrotoxicosis) since it is known to mask hyperthyroid symptoms (increased heart rate etc).
But in reality I would prefer to choose beta blocker for treatment of already diagnosed hyperthyroidism(as in your case) especially when you have high heart rate, shakes, and nervousness and this is current standard of care. While beta blockers will not change the levels of thyroid hormone in your blood, they are used to block the action of hormone on your body. Thus there is absolutely no need to panic and it especially becomes essential when you need to control high blood pressures as well as the above symptoms in Graves.
I am glad that your blood pressure has reduced from 173/92 to 149/84 and have responded positively.Suggest to continue to the BP medication for a month. At the end of one month I would evaluate the pressures and do the dose titration if necessary.
Cilazapril can be taken with carbimazol with a little caution.Avoid sun exposure since they may increase the occurrence of photo sensitivity.Report to your doctor if you notice any redness(allergy) or itching.
You may share the reports and medications after you get back you reports.I shall surely suggest you if there are any drug interactions.I would sincerely advise you to discuss with your doctor your current medical condition and treatment so that it will help him to choose the right pill.
Hope I have answered your query.
