Question: I'm s 59 year old adult male whose blood sugar when I sought it from my doctor (just a regular check-up) was high at 180. That was a couple of months ago.
He prescribed Metoformin 500mg daily . And two blood sugar tests twice daily no sooner than 30 days before the colposcopy (scheduled for 10/21). Same thing for an EKG
Over the last month or so there's a big difference in the 260 shown on the LabCorp 160 report.
Since the the daily average Blood Sugar (over 39 days) has about 115. But intraday daily fluctuations can be as high as 40.
Thanks for any comments you have have on this subject

Any comments or suhhestions will be welcome. And wuill receive a reply, Unless you ask me not yo.

Brief Answer:
Diabetes

Detailed Answer:
I follow what you are saying. It looks like Metformin is the oly medication you are on for diabetes. When I see a patient in my practice who is only on Metformin for their type 2 diabetes, I do not advise them to check they're sugars at home as long as we both have realized that they tend to run in the moderate range. I emphasize lifestyle modification and optimize the dose of metformin and then check the three month glucose average test called HbA1c to see if targets are being met. If the A1c is at goal then there is no reason to worry. Checking daily has the potential to cause stress over analyzing the fluctuations which can be complex to interpret. I suggest you discuss this mater with your endocrinologist in person who will also have the opportunity to thoroughly examine you and see if the above plan is suitable for you too
