Brief Answer:
you can increase your basal insulin dosage

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

if your doctor is certain that no infection causes this pain then taking mild painkillers like paracetamol sounds appropriate. If the pain is causing serious discomfort then adding a mild opioid to paracetamol helps. For example paracetamol with codeine or tramadol. As a patient with diabetes, you should avoid taking NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) because they may worsen renal function and even precipitate chronic kidney disease.

Regarding your diabetes issues: your morning fasting (I suppose) blood glucose is high. The morning glucose levels are influenced mostly by the basal insulin dosage. So if you've got high values consistently then elevating the dosage is required. We usually do so in small steps (2 units every 2-3 days).

Keep in mind that blood glucose can be out of control when your body is under stress. For example an infection may cause transient elevations in blood sugar (until the infection is under control). An elevated blood glucose in a previously well controlled diabetic may be a good reason to wander whether something happened that caused the elevation or not.
