Suggest Treatment For High Fever And Congestion Post Vaccination

Fever may be due to DPT vaccination
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
I appreciate your concern for your daughter's problem following vaccination.
As per the immunization schedule she might have received booster doses of Oral Polio Vaccine, DPT, Hib and Hepatitis A vaccine.
It is the "P" component of DPT that is responsible for the development of fever, pain and swelling at the site of injection in about 30% of children following vaccination. Usually this fever subsides with the use of Paracetamol or cold sponging.
However, since your daughter's WBC count was raised it could be due to some underlying infection like respiratory tract infection (reflected in high WBC count and chest x ray findings of congestion) most probably she was in the incubation period of that particular infection at the time of vaccination.
Now since her WBC count is reduced drastically (normal WBC count for 2 yrs old child is upto 12,000.. so this is slightly high, nothing to worry about it.
If she has no symptoms like cough with sputum, high grade fever, or difficulty in breathing, there is no need to continue the antibiotic since she has already received a proper course of Injectable antibiotics for five days.
See that she takes plenty of oral fluids, give her Paracetamol 7.5 ml FOUR times daily if she gets fever, she will be alright.
Hope my suggestions could be useful in getting her condition treated,
Should you need more clarification, please feel free to send your query.
Best regards.

Thank you for your reply and this is gives a huge relief to know that all is fine and the treatment is on right track.
The vaccine given were:
- DTwPB1
- IPV B1
- Hib B1
(along with oral polio drops)
Now she is fine and she is under medication as follows:
- Augmentin Duo (twice a day) - we add little ice cream for the baby to accept it
- Dylosyn Expectorant (twice a day)
We are told to do Haemogram VMC after 5 days.
Crocin DS is given in case of fever. (her temprature now ranges from 95 to 97 degree)
Hope all treatment is well on track. Please confirm.
Thanks and regards,
XXXX
You are most welcome.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Good evening!
Glad to know your daughter has improved.
Apparently she is having some sort of respiratory tract infection for which the pediatrician has prescribed her Augmentin Duo and Dylosyn Expectorant.
Complete the course of the above medications as suggested by her doctor and get the hemogram done to check the WBC count and other parameters.
Give her plenty of oral fluids, juices, etc along with Crocin SOS.
Once again wishing your daughter a smooth and quick recovery.
Best regards.
