Suggest Treatment For High Fever In A Child
Brief Answer:
Likely to be a viral infection
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Most often children suffer from viral infections where antibiotics are ineffective and all you need to do is to give calpol to bring down the temperature. Also give tepid sponging. If the child has cough, give steam inhalation as well as some antiallergic like cetirizine. Nothing else needs to be given.
You need to be patient. The fever usually resolves in 5-7 days.
Feel free to write back.
Regards

Thanks doctor. Fever was 101.5 from last night but it went to 102.5 so was wondering why the temperature is going up. He is fine when the temperature goes down.
Brief Answer:
High temperatures are common in viral infections.
Detailed Answer:
In viral fevers temperatures often go quite high. The temperature is basically in the same range and I would not distinguish between the two. You would need to be patient for another few days. If the temperature rises, it has to be brought down by any means.
