Suggest Treatment For Hoarse Voice

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jun 2016
Question: my husband had bronchitis about six weeks ago and lost his voice. His voice has not returned other than a hoarse whisper. Our family doc prescribed a hydrocodone cough suspension about 10 days ago and it hasn't helped. We have called an ENT but the first appointment we can get is not until May 11. I suggested we go to the ER but my husband is not happy to do so. I feel we should not wait another two weeks. What is your opinion?

Brief Answer:
There is no emergency at this time.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about what our husband experienced with his voice. it usually take a while for it to return after a bout of bronchitis. There is no need rushing as this usually takes a couple of weeks for all to return to normal. I will suggest that you patiently wait for the ENT appointment and don't rush to any ER visits.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
