Suggest Treatment For Hoarseness Of Voice With Throat Pain

Question: Sir,
I live in a small town and doctors here are not that good.
I aged 61 years, having an hoarse voice for past 2 and half weeks. I never smokes or drinks or chew tobacco. I do not have any pain in throat while swallowing or speaking. I consulted a local doctor and he checked for any lump by a physical exam(no lumps found) , a week back and gave some medicines(strepcil, allergy medicine and gargling). But nothing seems to work.
Should it something to worry about or will it heal by its own?
Please give your valuable opinion.

Brief Answer:
Something to worry about it
Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your query.
Hoarseness of voice can be due to chronic laryngitis, vocal cord nodules, vocal polyps or rarely carcinoma of larynx. Therefore I think it is absolute necessary to go for laryngoscopy to rule out the causes. The treatment will depend on cause.
For further management send me the report of laryngoscopy or consult with ENT specialist.

Sir,
Thank you for replying.
Should I undergo laryngoscopy immediately or can I wait for a month?
The local doctor whom I consulted (as I mentioned earlier) said me to do it after a month.
I have to go out of town to undergo the procedure.
Should I do it now or after a month ?
Need your valuable opinion.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your follow up query; and for your kind information there are so many types of laryngoscopy and they are safe except direct laryngoscopy.
1. Indirect laryngoscopy.
2. Rigid laryngoscopy.
3. Flexible laryngoscopy.
They are OPD procedure and most of places costing less than Rs1000/-.
4. Direct laryngoscopy this costing depend on type of anaesthesia use.
Accordind to my opinion better to go for flexible laryngoscopy.
