Question : I am 71, in good health, slim ,fit, and have apprx. 30 hot flashes a day. I have tried prescribed creams, antidepressants, nothing works. I would have to sign a waiver for Prempro. Advice?

start prempro...explained
Detailed Answer:
hello,
thanks for contacting healthcaremagic
if your hot flushes are not getting controlled by individual progesterone tabs and estradiol creams , then it is advisable that you may use conjugated estrogen + progesterone combination as in PREMPRO, daily one tab for atleast 3 months. if you have not undergone removal of uterus for nay cause then pregesterone is necessary in the tab which prempro has.
I think you stop the rest and continue back on prempro.

Aren't there serious risks taking Prempro at my age? Also, what good would Prempro do for three months. Once I stop, the hot flashes would return.
No other suggestions?

Hello.thanks for the follow up.
prempro is a low dose pill which can help supplement the estrogen which is not produced anymore by your ovaries.the progesterone additive would prevrnt endometrial hyperplasia and there of chances for uterine cancer. Pills are advisable when natural methods have failed and post menopausal symptoms are uncontrollable.
natural ways include.lifestyle changes, plenty of water in a day, green veggiies which have natural estrogens, daily exercise and calcium and vitamin supplements.
if they dont help then pills have to be introduced.you have to understand that there is just prevention and no permanent cure available .
