Suggest Treatment For Hydronephrosis In An Infant
Question: Hello Doctor, One of my relative baby boy 9 months got operated for hydronephrosis disease 6 months back. After six months ultrasound scan had performed and the problem is still exists. Again last Friday doctor operated the boy again. But, according to doctor the left kidney is in shapeless and damaged and urinary pipe is also very narrow. Please suggest me that is it okay the kidney can be removed and no problem for the child in future or with medicine it can be diagnosed. I m uploading scan copies also. Please help
Brief Answer:
Yes it is very much damaged
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us
I deeply understand your problem.
The left kidney is indeed grossly swollen with negligible function.
If your doctor has suggested removing it , i advice you to do the same.
It is unlikely that this can be treated by medicine .
There shouldnt be any significant problem because the other kidney is pretty normal.
But routine followups are needed .
Wishing good health
