Suggest Treatment For Hypopigmentation Of The Skin Due To Application Of The Lightening Agent

Question: Hello doctor, i have been using melacare for past two week its looking good, but i, by mistake applied a little on the non hyperpigmented part of my face, and the skin lightened one shade in two weeks in that small area. Now i want it to darken and get back to my normal skin color in that area. i have a wheatish complexion. Could you please suggest what can i do for it?
Brief Answer:
Stop using all medicines to get back normal color
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same .
You seem to have developed hypopigmentation of the skin due to application of the lightening agent.
Now the best thing to do is to stop application of all the medicines over the face. The skin color will revert back to normal in two to three weeks. Avoid application of even sunscreen over the light areas of the face.
In future, take care to apply the lightening agent only over the dark areas.

Oh okay thank you. But how did my skin lighten so fast in just two weeks. Does it happen to everyone who use this cream? I mean the skin lightnng so super fast? And does it have any side effects? can it be used over the counter?
Brief Answer:
Use medicine with extra care
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
This type of side effect is seen in many patients especially those who do not apply the medicine properly.
It is definitely not an over the counter medicine .
In fact , it has to be used very cautiously . It has to be applied only over the dark pigmented area at night. Care needs to be taken not to apply it over the surrounding areas. Also this medicine has to be applied only at night. It should not be rubbed too much into skin.
Most importantly, it should not be used for more than two months at a stretch.
