Question: I am 4.5 weeks pregnant. I used a donor egg and take estradiol 3 times a day and get progesterone in oil shot once a day. I occasionally test my fasting blood sugar as my mother is diabetic. Last week the two times a tested, the fasting blood sugar was 97. This morning it was 105. I did not do much yesterday as I felt a little blue (hormones?). I am worried about the blood sugar levels and when to contact doctor.

Brief Answer:
Check reading for 3 consecutive days at same time

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Pregnancy also causes impaired blood sugar levels leading to "Gestational Diabetes". As your one reading came under "Impaired" Blood sugar levels(BSL) so we need to confirm it. I would suggest you to record your BSL daily in the morning (with overnight fast) for 3 consecutive days. If reading comes within the range of 100-124mg/dl then we will go for dietary & lifestyle modifications and would be labeled as "Gestational Diabetes". In case levels remain below 100mg/dl then you need not to worry.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
