Suggest Treatment For Infection And Swelling Gum

Question: I am having low horizontal wisdom tooth , since few days i had swelling in my gum.
After consulting doctor was told i have infection in my gum as there is space between 2nd molar and 3rd molar. As of now i am taking antibiotic for 3 days please advise is it necessary for me to get wisdom tooth operated.

Thanks for writing in.

I saw your OPG & would suggest you to get your third molar extracted as early as possible.
Third molar is horizontally impacted & is causing pressure on second molar which may lead to root caries of second molar. Moreover there will be food lodgment between these two teeth leading to pericoronitis that is inflammation of gums in that area. Third molar is vestigial organ and if it causes problem then it’s better to get it extracted. Meanwhile you may start with a course of analgesic & antibiotic.
Consult oral surgeon for further treatment plan.
