Suggest Treatment For Infection In The Jaw

Posted on Mon, 24 Apr 2017
Question: I developed severe neurological issues... mainly inability to organize and issues with working memory and ADHD that has grown more severe. My problem is by history i also have bipolar and add so it is taking them and has taken them forever.. going on almost a year and a half since first radical sysmptoms appears and they decided to do some testing. Anyway.. I just saw a new neurologist yesterday and he said they would be doing more intensive testing but i will have to wait on getting the tests done and i dont see him again until the 1st of week of XXXXXXX This is starting to drive me crazy.... and i might mention I did also develop behavioral changes. Anyway, there are a few things that are bothering me. Right about the same time I started misplacing things I also developed a jaw infection on the right side of my face for over several months and now on the left side of my face i have an infection in my jaw that come, they clean in...and find bone mush... and it develops again. this started after an injection of PROLIA along with developing osteoarthritis...in addition there was loss of vision and hearing to the point they said I need a hearing aid. along with the jaw infection i noticed in the frontal lob my skull was seperating. my general doctor x-rayed and said he was not sure why but that it sometimes happened as you aged. Well now i have an indentation from the front top of my skull almost half way across my head and it is getting more prevalent (deeper) as time goes by. I told my neurologist but he did not feel for it.... probably because i do have bipolar... they same reason I think they took forever. Another skull change is that the front of my skull seems to have raised and i also feel some indentations right in the very cone of the sull...center. I know there could be many reasons for skull changes... but what do you think is the most likely?

Hello, and thanks for your question.

You mention a few things here. You say the "frontal lobe of your skull is separating." You also say you have noticed an indentation on the top of your skull getting bigger, and you notice some indentations as well. You ask what is the most likely explanation.

The human skull reaches maturity around age 18, and the shape does not change naturally after that time. Any changes would require surgery or physical trauma. Another explanation is that you are noticing these things for the first time not because they are new, but because you are anxious about them. Let me reassure you that nothing here is dangerous -- minimal bone atrophy with age is normal and should not be any cause for concern. If your X-ray was normal, there is nothing to worry about.

No... I am not just noticing them for the first time. Right after my prolia shot along with ongoing jaw infections I noticed the start of skull indentation in the front of my skull.. upper portion of forward head. Now it is half way across my skull and it is very easy to feel the indentation. I tried to get my husband to examine in a couple months ago... and like the doctors he thought I was just imagining it and would not even feel where I asked him to feel. Anyway... today he finally did and he though it was odd. Then a friend of mine came over and I had him from his hand across it and it grossed him out.... I know when it started and I know how much the indentations have progressed, As far as the front part of the top of my skull bulging... maybe that is a possibility that it has always been that way....but the indentation are new and are increasing in size. My doctor x-rayed me a year ago and did see some seperation but said with age is was normal. Also....hearing loss and vision loss... decline was rapid over a period of months.
You know I am also beginning to wonder if some of my problems could be from all the physciatric drugs I have been given over the years.... just a thought.

However.. I will agree that I think half my problem is stress related On my neuro phycological test results my doctor stated I developed PTSD and my Anxiety Level was through the roof and that the primary cause was the fact my QUOTE UN QUOTE... My extreme crys for help were being ignored.

If you are concerned about progressive age-related bone changes, the definitive way to confirm that would be to obtain an MRI of the head. If this is normal, I recommend beginning psychotherapy, a highly effective non-medication treatment, for stress.

Hi... I think I am getting ready to close discussion and right now I am shaking and very angry. My neurological problems started suddently and severe studdering and what mimiced terets syndrone... sorry about spelling occured.... i literally had to fight to get them to hospitalize me even though in my hands i had test results form my general doctor stating i had some kind of severe infection or inflamaition and i was testing positive for the jc virus wich causes pml. Well I did get hospitalized via the physciatric ward and after two days they apologized because someone finally decided to read the test results. But they just said I seemed to be getting better so they just let me leave two days later without any anti viral treatment./.. and while my neurological issues continued to get worse no one addressed the issue any further .... besides giving me anti physcotics. the current recommendation is that is a transplant patient suddently develops neurological issues and they listed the most common.... all of which I had and still have. PML should be the first thing that they should check for and treat. You can do some fact checking. Right now I am pissed off and I am going to talk to my husband and have him make an appointment with the head of University Hospital transplant clinic and get the proper testing done before I lose any more brain matter. But let me tell you... if it turns out the jc virus was active and possible still active....they are in for one hell of a law suite. I know you don't know what to think. But I will get back to you....and as you as via your website... when I get some answers. I did not realize until tonight how many times i have written in about the same concern until now and it is funny... but my first gut instict has now come back to haunt me. thank-you ... we will talk again. Have a good evening and please excuse my messing writing. Writing use to be my strongest asset.
