Suggest Treatment For Infertility

Question: Hi I am 38 and want a baby. I have had all hormone tests done and Consultant is very happy he says for my age I have good quality eggs and many of them. On Day 2 of cycle FSH was 4.2. Do you see I will be able to conceive naturally and if I have good egg quality does this mean I ovulate.

Me and my husband never had frequent sex and I have never been on any kind of contraceptive. I have only been sexually active with my husband and sex has even been less frequent than once a month. This past month we are trying hard and will continue to do so. Do you believe that I will be able to conceive naturally?

My husband does have a child to a previous partner. Please help I am out of my mind that something is wrong with me and it will never happen.

Hi

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply

1. Female age is most important criteria in infertility.

2. Since you are 38 your egg reserve will be low.

3. Though FSH seems to be good its not enough.

4. Please get AMH levels tested along with transvaginal ultrasound scan done to check antral follicle count. These combined tests ate best indicators of ovarian reserve.

5. Please see an infertility Specialist for above tests. Since your age is more these are important.

6. Frequency of sex is not only criteria. Egg reserve and quality are more important.

7. I think you might need to go for IVF treatment soon to increase chance of pregnancy.

My egg reserve is good I have been seen by infertility specialist and had tests and said all is good

Hi

If your egg reserve is good please follow the instructions below

1. Get your fallopian tubes tested by Laparoscopy or HSG.

2. If you have done it and is normal get regular follicular growth scan done to check the follicle growth and to know best yime to have intercourse.

3. Follicular growth scan suggests the probable date of ovulation and and best time to have intercourse for success.
