Suggest Treatment For Inflammation In Cheek After Root Canal Treatment
During a regular dental check up, my new dentist observed some inflation below the cheek tooth on root canal was done about 10-12 years ago. He mentioned that there is some pus and after an X-ray (which showed some less dense area - sorry about layman description) asked me to undergo re-root canal. There is no pain or sensitivity at all. Unfortunately, I don't have X-Ray with me to share either. My question is: Is it possible that an infection could occur after such a long time? and would such infections typically need re-root canaling? Will appreciate your comments.
First try a course of antibiotics.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..
As per your complain yes, there can be infection below the root tips of the tooth in a Root canal treated tooth even a pain or after a long time..
But in case if you do not have any pain in the tooth then at present you can postpone getting root canal treatment done and first you can take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin for a period of 15 days..
Then get another x ray done after about a month..
If there is same presentation in the x ray or if there is some improvement then you can still leave it as it is and if at all there is pain in future then you can proceed for root canal treatment..
Please write back for more queries..
Hope this information helps..
Regards.
Continue for 5 days more..
