With FFI I understands familial fatal insomnia. This disorder is a genetically determined autosomal dominant prion related disorder and in my opinion there is no need to worry. The disorder is extremely rare and have different presentation. The disorder has onset in about 40-50 years of age usually and you are young so this should reduce your anxiety.

Poor sleep could be anxiety related or due to primary insomnia. Don't jump to severe diagnosis.

thanks I am just sceard that I will die of no sleep I get some sleep but when I wake up it fills like I had never closed my eys some times i dont fill sleepy and my eys are sore I have a lot of stress and depression and add and I rurry a lot and I look stuff up on the web and thik I have that

This could be due to primary insomnia and making diagnosis of FFI on basis of this history is not justifiable. Visit a sleep specialist or a psychiatrist and get your polysomnography done to find out exact reason behind poor sleep. Hypnotic drugs for some time will definitely solve your problem.

Yes its not FFI. Just visit a sleep specialist of psychiatrist for opinion. Some times psychophysiological insomnia cause similar symptoms and that should be ruled out. Just try to remain relaxed.

In such condition individuals learn in their mind that they would not get proper sleep. Sleep is a spontaneous phenomenon. Some times due to chance factors an individual might get poor sleep or no sleep. If such condition gets repeated then in such situation individuals start fearing that they might not get proper sleep. This increase stress and results in anticipatory anxiety. This anticipation results in further disturbance of sleep. Sleep disturbance further worsens the condition and ultimately individuals sleep become minimal. To come out of this condition individuals should break that vicious cycle. This is called psychophysiological insomnia.

Improve your sleep hygiene.

Hello again

First consider consulting a psychiatrist. For short periods medicines like low dose benzodiazepines as Clonazepam, Lorazepam etc can help. These medicines will result in good sleep and thus you will feel relaxed. Once sleep becomes better your anxiety will go and you will start sleeping spontaneously.

Other option is to consult a psychologist. Improve your sleep hygiene. If you are not able to sleep on your bed then change the bed position or if possible room also. Avoid watching TV, reading while on bed. Fix your time to go to bed and if you fails to get sleep with in 10-15 minutes of getting on bed then get up and don't try to sleep.

Avoid trying to get sleep again and again. Don't think that you will not get sleep. Just keep one thing in mind that sleep will come spontaneously. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol in evening. Warm water bath in evening helps to improve sleep.

Follow these steps and you will see improvement.

First of all try to accept that the disorder is extremely rare. About 40 families in whole world have genetic variety of this disorder. Sporadic cases found so far are less than 20 world wide. So how can you develop this rarest of rare disorder. Visit a psychiatrist and discuss about your symptoms. You don't have FFI.
