Suggest Treatment For Intense Pain In Right Leg
Question: For the past two weeks I have not been able to sleep at night. I have this intense pain in my right leg. In my calf to my thigh it radiates. It becomes so bad that I have to get up and rub my leg. In the past three nights it even begins when I am sitting down getting ready for bed. . I am now having trouble even lifting my leg to go up the steps. I am so tired and drained. By the time I do get to the top of the stairs, I need to sit down and the pain becomes excruciating. I take oxycodone 20 mg. for my spinal stenosis, so I thought it might be sciatica, but I can't even move my leg now and getting out of a chair after sitting for 20 min. I can bearly walk.
Brief Answer:
need to see vascular doctor or neurologist
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. There are two possibilities that could cause the problems you describe. One is that you are not getting good blood flow to that leg and it is causing the pain. The second is that due to your spinal stenosis the nerves to the leg are being damaged. You need to see your doctor right away so that they can figure out which type of problem is going on and send you either to a vascular doctor if it is about blood flow or to a neurologist or neurosurgeon if it is a nerve problem. In the mean time drink lots of water and take a multivitamin dailly.
I hope you get some relief soon,
